the stainless is what they had and I thought that it looked really cool and it was special ordered for someone that didn't come through so it was a killer deal it also comes with a full stock..... bear with me for a second and you all will kinda understand, okay I wanted a shotgun I already have a semi auto twelve gauge and it is huge so I wanted something a little smaller but I am using it for a bear hunt in september well the guy that is taking me suggested a shotgun with a slug in it and maybe a laser sight if I could find one, you don't really need a scope to shoot a bear that has been put up a tree by dogs if any of you have any better ideas I am totally up for suggestions this will be my first bear so I am really excited and just want it to be a great experience

Ok, first off if you wish to hunt bear you are better off hunting with a high powered rifle in such calibers as .308 or .30-06; or possibly .300 WIN Mag. But if you are going to hunt with a shotgun I suggest you drop the idea of a laser site and go with a more traditional scope mount. This is a picture of my Mossberg 500 with my deer hunting barrel attached. If you go this rout I HIGHLY suggest that you bring along a side arm, however that is always a good idea when hunting any predatory game.

this will be my first bear next time I call the shots but for now I read the books, thanks for the advise it is either the shotty or my .270, yes I got the sidearm already it is the taurus .454 casul so I think I will be okay in that department, the scope will work I just envisioned it as being in deep brush with the bear up a tree and thought it might be more practical to just put a red dot on him and fire away

I'm not a gun expert but i think a .50 AE Desert Eagle would do it. atleast from close range
Why do you need to force the bear into a tree? Doesn't that completely take away the point of hunting?

it is just a differnt type of hunting, alot of people do bait hunting ( for anyone quick to correct me and tell me I am a f@cking idiot and give hunters a bad name I dont know if it is legal in cal nor do I care) but I think bait hunting is cheating lets put out some steaks and go hide in a tree....... but to each his own

only game i have hunted was pheasent and jack rabbit, nothing as big as bear, white tailed dear, or elk...i only wish to hunt something of that size, i just need a 30-06, 247, 243, etc. and a liscense... :D ...i havent taken my course yet lol. but im gona take it soon, i just go hunting whenever my uncle does and i usually grab my 12g bolt, my bro uses his benelle 12 pump, and my lil bro grabs our single 12g

I think you misunderstand I totally agree with you I think bait hunting is wrong, and if it was my chose with the bear I would hunt without the dogs but seeing how this is my first time hunting something that is capable of killing me I am going to let the guy show me how it is done and go from there but there will be absolutely no bait hunting just the dogs

wow, im still amazed at the fact that you call yourself a hunter!! To me, opening fire - regardless of what type of gun you are using - on a defenseless bear, trapped in a tree, with nowhere to go, with dogs used to keep it in a state of fear, isnt hunting at all! I would call that the senseless slaughter of a helpless animal!!!
