TM AUG??

Feb 23, 2006 4:34am
Does anyone have experience with the tm aug steyr?? i was lookin at them and do they ever have any common problems and do they really have that much better accuracy than other aeg's? and are they as heavy as ppl say they are? or are they hella good?

I own one....the only problem is a really small battery compartment. It can only fit an 8.4v without modification. As far as accuracy goes, I haven't noticed much difference compared to other AEGs, but it does have a long barrel due to the bullpup configuration. *shrug* The heaviness isn't a big deal unless you're a relatively small guy, I actually prefer my guns heavy.

hey does the front handle get loose and flimsy after awhile? thats one of the main things im worried about.

they arnt that heavy less heavy then a metal aeg battery compartment is small as mentioned already and the foregrip tends to loosen with wear and if you smash it into something it'll snap off i own one and they are really easy to take apart and upgrade and such, but i also own a g36k and the accuracy is near the same

is there a way to tighten up the front handle if it loosens up? im tryin to choose between the sig 552 and the aug

Unless you abuse it by forcing it into different positions a lot and stuff, it holds up fine...but sometimes makes a weird TWAAAANG sound if you change it's position. Mine isn't loose or flimsy or anything yet, so I wouldn't count on it breaking.

if you slap a metal body on the sig 522 i say that...a sig 533 with metal body would be badass man

Yeah, that's kinda why I bought mine. I was also looking at a Sig at first, too.

I liked the bullpup design more than anything...the sig just didn't really have a unique feel to me.

I've heard good things about the AUG. I think I asked Neouser about it and he told me it barrel lenght was the same as an M-4, my memory is a little fussy so don't quote me on what he said however. I would say go for it. There are not that many people that I see running around with one but they are sweet guns.

ya im more towards the aug right now. but another thing im worried about is how it will do at az. because of its long length it will be easy to hit it on a corner

i own an aug, but have yet to shoot it(shimming problems...not from TM, but from the prev. owner i think...) its a great gun, very realistic stripping...the barrels can be switched in less then 30 seconds(i have a smg and norm. barrel) the phantom kit is nice, but can get confusing if you want to use it full lenghted. also, the barrel is a lot longer then the m4, i have a tightbore that i think is made for a ak, not sure, but its still shorter then the aug barrel. i think its like 450-500 mm barrel??? not 100% on that. very nice gun...if you wat to pay $500 ill sell you mine. oh and also, if you get the custom batt. it will fit the 9.6 1500 thats made for the aug. fits perfectly.but yeah, matt pm me if you need more info, etc.

so swat monkey, would u recommend it over a sig 552?

joes got my old gun and untill i accidently lost some shims it was awsome... your not gonna find a better gun for CQB if you have the smg barrel cuz its shorter than an MP5 with a longer barrel and a good solid stock on it. With the short piece of the phantom kit on its just a tad shorter than the MP5SD5. I had a scope on there and in that configuration i sighted a guy at the CQB field and sniped him 8)
