Hi, I am fairly new to airsoft, and am considering buying another gun (addicting, isn't it?). I want an M4 now, and have to decide between two. One a stock SR-16 and the other is a highly modifed M4. My question is, how much $$ would it cost to upgrade a stock m4 (or SR-16) to shoot 400+ fps? That is what the other gun is modified at, and I am wondering if it worth the price difference. It is upgraded with all Systema parts.
well first off...you don't really need to upgrade a gun significantly past 400 fps unless you're gonna be a sniper or something. For woodland games, most people here will tell you that 350 fps is sufficient. Once you opt for much more than 400 fps (say 450 fps), you start having to replace EVERYTHING in your gear box which is expensive and somewhat wasteful since you're basically throwing out stock parts that you spent money for.

like anguirus130 said....350 is efficient. also..if u want 400fps, an m120 and metal bushings will not do the trick. the stock gears will strip very fast. I took the easy (but expensive :? ) route and spent 150 for a ftk..now i know my gun will never break rather than wondering when my gears will strip.....for 350fps you'll need a m100 and metal bushings..bout $15
Alfred, I got your PM about my M4, I'm guessing thats the M4 your referring to? It is upgraded to 400fps, with a systema FTK, however it is no longer for sale, a friend is interested in trading, and if that falls through I'm keeping it as a sniper rifle. I tried to PM you back, but the PMing system seems to be down.
No, actaully its a different one :D Im just trying to decide if its worth the extra $$ to buy a gun already upgraded. one is a completely stock SR-16 and the other is a m4 with the following upgrades:
might wanna ask people about airsoft elite parts. i dunno if they are the same caliber as systema. everything else looks good though...actually also you might wanna see if its ok to be running a high speed set with an m120...but that's all.

hey socom, are you on aim now?
get it and put a M100 in, M100 spring is all the power you need.
[ an m120 and metal bushings will not do the trick. the stock gears will strip very fast.
yeah...m120 and bushings will last quite a bit...no need to upgrade the gears right away.
