I assume we are talking about airsoft right? If so yes I do swab my barrel on ocasion ( I know that sounds dirty ) I use a small cleaning patch, or just cut a patch in half. Make sure there is no bb in it, and be careful not to mess up the hop up rubber.

the long cleaning rod the gun comes with, a piece of toilet papar(or anything soft like that), and some type of good lube. there is a slot in one end of the rod, u rip off a little piece of the soft material, soakit in lube. and stick the lube soaked soft material into the slot. (u only need a lttle bit of the material cuz if u put too much it wont fit down the barrel.then u pt it in and push it all the way down and pull it back up and out. u DONT want to slide it back and forth because u could possibly scratch it. there ya go. now go clean your shaft.lol but seriously thats how u do it.

Isn't it also stated in your manual? I know it's probably all in Japanese but the pics show you what to do. But the guys above did a very good job in explaining how to clean it.
