Need Piston Help

Apr 2, 2006 6:31am
I currently have a Deepfire titanium teeth piston in my gun...the full metal teeth version. I've seen that many players use the polycarb pistons over this type, so I'm wondering if anyone has input on whether or not this is a keeper or if I should get a different polycarb piston. Thanks!

its cheaper to replace pistons than gears.

Yup, if it ain't broke, don't fix it... I mean if it's an aluminum piston maybe, cause I heard those aren't good for the guns...

well, i have seen pics of gearbox's that used the titanium pistons....and if you have one...take it out. they add about double the stress on the gears...i say get a new poly carb piston, before you have to pay 50+ for new gears...

I've been hearing this argument about the DF TT pistons taking out gears and the like, I have to wonder if these people have ever used them, I have them installed as part of every upgrade, and to date have not had one failure, not even a hiccup, in fact every time my gearbox's have been gone through all the gears looked flawless, even better than one's I have seen that used the poly carbs.
Look its a bird its a plane, no its just my broken aeg flying all over the place.

Actually I've used DF TT. They are nice but with a properly shimmed gearbox a standard piston will work just as well. So yes I've used a DF TT and looked back and went back as a matter of fact.

any aluminum or titanium piston creates little shavings over time and then you can break teeth so if you don't want to fix more stuff latter put in a poly piston. D

I looked at the piston in more depth upon taking apart the gearbox and this is what I determined:

I've repaired guns that were 'upgraded' using these pistons. Wasnt pretty. I say take it out. Its always good to have a weak link in the gearbox so everything doesnt grenade when one part goes.
