no you dont need a ris to mount the one i showed you, it mounts to the barrelaround the hand gaurds, and it gas a DQ clamp that clamps on the barrel.

so u dont need to take off any of the handguard and all the mountign tools come with it right.

Here are simple direction for the do it yourselfers who cannot do it themselves. Actually, they are quite easy to install. Here's what you will need.
