Is your battery fully charged? I had an MP5 SD6 so I had the small battery. I've had that problem when I first started and I just about sh1t myself when I heard that noise. Then my friend told me to charge the battery and it worked out to be just that. As for upgrades, no need to increase fps if you want to keep it CQB capable, if you do however upgrade it, keep it under 350fps as for sacair rules or 340fps for AZ rules. Also, high speed systema gears are a good way to go so you can get that rof up. Finally, the stock mods for larger battery require much dremeling which you might want someone else to do unless you are confident with that tool. Hope this helps.
The 4 rules of gun safety:
Wow. Thanks for answering my flood of questions! I think my battery's charged enough. After the grinding noise, I charged the baterry for maybe an additional two hours before I tried to shoot the gun again. I'll fully charge the battery tonight to see if it solves the problem! It's always comforting to know when someone else has been in your shoes.
if your gun is grinding you dont charge your battery and try it again.
I noticed that another post mentioned ~$110 at AEX for a broken motor.
Alright, so I kinda expected AEX to be the consensus. Any idea on how much it'll cost? I wanna do some financial planning haha. Thanks again for all the replies!
chances are your piston is stripped which is 15$...
I agree...sounds like a piston.
It just makes a loud grinding noise when I hold down the trigger
Thanks to everyone for your help! I checked the battery and the motor adjustment screw. The battery's fine and the motor adjustment screw helped by making the grinding noise sound a little more like the normal dry fire sound. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the actual problem.
if your gun is grinding you most likely stripped the gears. try adjusting the motor with an allen wrech at the bottom of your grip. if it doesnt work take it to AEX or somewhere and get new gears
Pinion gear or beaver (bevel) is probably messed up now.
