Okay, did some old searches on the ICS. From what everyone around here says, they're so-so. Seems like it's all internal. I did read a review on the GI Airsoft site on the "knew" (?) ICS M97's and their quick and easy way to change the internals. Supposedly only like 5 seconds to change out the...oh crap, alzhiemers stikes again!, motor (?). Anyone ever hear of that? (little sarcasm there not towards you all, towards the review). Like the metal body of CA, like the TM reputation, just curious about the ICS M97 carbine.
The ICS ARs use a 2 piece V2 gearbox. when you pop the rear pin and hinge the upper off you can then pull the top part of the gearbox out like a bolt/bolt carrier. so if you had another upper gearbox you could in essence change it in a matter of seconds.
I've got one out of curiosity. They aren't that bad or at least as bad as everyone says they are. The takedown is like opfor said; very nifty feature, plus the ability to decompress your spring by using the forward assist. Heavier then all other m4 brands and the body is a little longer in the rear to accomodate the split gearbox design. But like with all ICS their products are a hit or miss in terms of quality.
