It wouldn't matter, because unless they found a way around Japanese gun laws, they would not be able to put metal bodies on their guns.

So where are CA's made then?

Hong Kong.

It all depends on how bad the cylinders are. I have bought 2 CA's, one shooting 328, and the other 315. CA have really bad cylinders that tend to have bad compression. As soon as I replaced the cylinder and piston head, the 315 gun went up to 330. On a CA, you must replace those two things along with the hop-up bucking in order to make it a good functioning gun. Everything else tends to be fine.

Well, I need to correct myself. TM HAS found a way to put a metal body on their type 89, and I don't know how, but I will research. I know that in the past, their guns have been plastic because of gun laws, so things have changed, and I would say definitly for the better. I will post again when I find out how this all worked out.

Its not the cylinder. Its the O-ring around the piston head. Put a marui one in there and fps will go up. But replacing everything isnt a bad idea.

Technically it's a metal receiver. If you look at the m14 it's entire receiver and barrel assembly is completely metal. They simply substituted ABS plastic where there was wood or fiberglass. So the whole metal against the law would seem to me be another offshore/retailer myth. Better reason would be they didn't have the kind of competition they are having today and saw no reason to put metal on what is basically a toy gun.

well, the TM M14 is almost all metal on everything that is metal on the real-steel. and I think it shoots 330 out of the box, and the Type 89 looks like it will have the same features as the M14, and a new bipod and new gearbox, so watch out CA!

I agree about the o-ring, but the cylinders suck too. I have had to replace both my cylinders, after that, everything worked just fine.

correct me if im wrong, but i think tms have a little bit better cycling rate. At least in the MP field.

the only thing that I have seen that's not sold out of the box full metal have been handguns and pistols. WA, KSC, Marushin, TM et al. they're all over 90% plastic.

Like freq88 said, the debate between these 2 companies could go on forever, and it has been done too many times. I think this thread is more about if TM started to make more metal bodied guns.

tm GBBs kinda suck. WE and KWA are better.

I am not going to do the "which guns are better" arguement, but TM has some great pistols, with a few modifications. I couldn't say the same for WE.
May 23, 2006 1:17am
Still would be the same arguments over and over again even if TM made metal receivered aeg's.

Why not write them an email and ask their customer support... after finding someone who is fluent in japanese. And off topic again, I've got a WE gun using TM mags, hi flow valve, SAS kit and i don't have any problems with it unless i don't lube it. Works like a dream, i can hit what i aim at...
lol, I can hit what I point at with a slingshot, but that's besides the point. To be more on topic, would it be smart for TM to make metal receivered guns, seeing as how they have such a niche as it is with the ABS guns? Wouldn't R&D be kinda expensive, seeing as how they sell so many units as it is? I'm probably wrong here, but it doesn't seem like TM's best interest to leave their comfort zone. :?:
in my oppinion i think its a good idea. but they are also making a new version of gearbox. My consern is if it would be limited to upgrades.
