Shhhhh... Keep it down. Dynamat upgrade in my P90.

I just lined the inside of my P90 with Dynamat. Holy crap! Between the 363mm tightbore, the silencer and the Dynamat, this thing is ridiculously quiet. It's not silent to the point that you can't hear it at all, but it just sounds like the whole gun is muffled. Gonna see how it works out this weekend.

Lol nice, I was actually thinkin of picking some of that up just for that purpose, wanted to quiet down my MP5, but wasnt sure how or if it would fit inside the gun. How was it installing that stuff in yours anyway?

Well, it was kind of a rough going in the P90, since you can't open it up in half to do exact measurements to cut the pieces to fit. My hands are only so small, so I can effectively get my fingers about 4 inches in there if I really scrunch them up. Putting it in is a little rough too, since it tends to bend and stick before you intend it to.

weaver/kurt stuck in some dynamat on his 36c back then...it didnt really make a huge difference with its sound...the 36c's actually pretty quiet out of the box anyway...on the P90 and the AUG though...hehehe room to stick those in...should be really nice...

Yeah, it doesn't make a WORLD of difference, but it definitely helps a noticeable amount. I've got 2 other bone stock P90's at home to compare against and you can definitely hear the difference. It doesn't help with the motor noise too much, but the impact of the piston head is a little quieter. It could just be my imagination, but it seems like Dynamat works best with a certain range/type of noise. The sound of the spring is actually magnified now. Maybe it's the same, but just seems louder because the sound of the piston head strike is softer.

silent piston head set (0=3 now those make a difference with springs rated m100 or lower...super torque up motor and high speed helical gear sets...fun stuff

Silent piston head set is my next choice of mod for the P90. Not sure if I have to order it specifically for the Version 6 gearbox or if it uses the same as the Version 2 or 3. (From my understanding, the Version 6 box is a modified Version 3 box and uses almost all the same parts.) I may do a high flow nozzle while doing the piston head. Maybe I'll compare that AUG nozzle you have to the P90 nozzle. Since the AUG supposedly has a larger cylinder to accomodate the longer barrel, it may also have a higher flow nozzle to accomodate the additional airflow. Who knows? I've heard that a silent piston head set increases fps as well.

hmm..I don't think stock marui cylinder heads on full size rifles have a larger bore...otherwise, they wouldn't be selling bore up kits for them...hehe...I mean why go with a lesser diameter bore right? about the silent head set, it's weird how people get lower FPS with them. Maybe it's parts compatibility or just not getting the right compression out of it...

From my understanding, the reason why the silent piston head increases fps is because of the special funnel shaped cylinder head that comes in the kit. It channels the charge into a more focused stream, reduces turbulance while increasing flow, and increases displacement in the cylinder slightly. (They don't advertise all of the, some of it is just automotive science coming into play here. The only thing they advertise is the funneled cylinder head increasing flow.)

yes, they have an article about the silent head sets somewhere online...I've read it before...just have to find it again

where can you get Dynamat from and how much does it cost? I am thinking of putting it in my AUG
Mar 11, 2004 6:46pm
Prices vary depending on how much you get and the type you get. (Yes, there's different grades and thickness.) I got two 10"x10" sheets in a "speaker pack" from Best Buy for about $20 + tax. They also have a smaller one for license plates for about $12. (10" by 8", I think? Only one sheet, though.) They also had a 4' roll for about thirty something bucks. Don't remember. Anyways, price varies. They have it at automotive specialty audio stores too, but I find that those places tend to put a slightly higher price tag on it. I gotta check and see if Walmart has it sometime. That would be the cheapest place to get it, I would imagine.

Picoy heard my AUG, I have Dynamat in mines too. . .

I've skirmished with my AUG and I've never really noticed an increase in heat. . . I'll pay closer attention to it the next time I use it.

Well, I don't notice anything through the stock. It feels completely normal. But when I open the buttplate to take the battery out, everything is hot to the touch. I'm worried that the Dynamat might be isolating the heat. That can't be good for the motor or battery.
