M16 series PDI Patriot Review, please comment!

Apr 16, 2006 10:57pm
I figure I'll be the first on sacair to make a review of the PDI Patriot; so here it is in all its glory! lol. The patriot is essentially an M16 "pistol" or "machine pistol" if you prefer. Aside from its extremely compact size, it has all the gimmicks of any m16 out there. It is my opinion that this is THE BEST CBQ AEG. Its smaller and more powerful that the mp5k or any stock mp5 or p90 (depending on the base gun you choose to sacrifice for the build, lol). Furthermore, unlike the MP5K it can take up to a 9.6 volt battery in the stock tube.

I forgot to note that the entire project cost $470 total.

I forgot to also note that the gun is louder than hell. It makes more noise than my heavy upgraded aegs!

lol, sweet! I'm thinking about placing an Eotech or Trijicon reflex II on it in the future. I'm also kind of thinking of painting the fluted handguard in some sort of red, white, and blue combo. That way It can only be an American Patriot, LOL!!!

nice weapon. The Boss would be proud of the drum mag configuration. If you go to www.x-fire.org, there are a bunch of other PDI patriot kits you could have used as well but i like the one you chose.
What's a signature?

+1 im not a fan of the patriot if it had a stock then yes. even though that was one bad ass game.

The patriot kit does not come with an inner barrel. Thats why I said you have to cut one down. Its approx 5". Its seriously easier to cut down the barrel of your old m16 rather than paying another $50 for the short barrels PDI offers. Just remember that if you cut a barrel it is best to use a dremel and take your sweet time. Some people tend to rush cuts and risk warping the barrel. And yes, MGS 3 was my inspiration for this project. LOL. It would be sweet to see some other patriot configs out there.

when you cut down the inner barrel im assuming you can use a circular saw just as easly? because i just happen to have acess to a whole machine shop...
Apr 17, 2006 4:27am
Um, i'd be really really careful with a saw. That was gonna be my first choice but there is a small chance that you can put extremely slight dents or warps in the barrel which would totoally screw up your accuracy. Also, when using a saw its a rule of thumb to clamp anything you cut. Once again, clamps can cause warps ect.... Just take your sweet sweet time with a dremel and you'll be proud of your work.

I may spice things up with high speed gears and a hi speed motor
Apr 17, 2006 11:19pm
you could do that, but i would keep the same barrel and just put a silencer over it...silence and it would look seriously spec-ops

I really really wanted to do that but the threads don't match the standard 14mm threads for airsoft.
Apr 18, 2006 2:35am
It looks cool but not for me. I think it needs a stock like somebody said earlier...

lol, patriots don't have stocks. Period.
Apr 18, 2006 2:55am
No, I understand that but for me, I like guns with stocks on them...

that is bad. ass.
Apr 18, 2006 5:28am
Are these actually used in any sort of combat or is it more a collectors peice?
Apr 18, 2006 6:14am
I'm sure that there are some police units out there that use the patriot for drug busts and stuff when "police" weapons can id you as a cop. Otherwise, aside from its role in mgs 3 and several movies (lethal weapon 4 for example) its more a show gun. LOL. For airsoft its quite practical; its light, sturdy (on CA guns), can take extreme upgrades and up to a 9.6v battery in a very compact bb sprayer.

I think I've found my first big AEG project, can't wait til my birthday when I could get such a creation, WOW is all I have to say and I want one...
Jun 6, 2006 9:23pm
I think William Defoe had one in Clear and Present danger... used a 1 pt sling with it like you would with an MP5K

you all should watch

i really dont like the tube stock thingy i think it looks gay and i'd just leave a normal colapsable stock on it and use a external battery pouch or something i dunno but i dont like it
