Dead Motors

Apr 21, 2006 1:38am
I just build a really sweet LR300. Its based off a used gun. The motor was working fine at first but I noticed the time between pulling the trigger and the actual firing was a little slow (I thought it was due to the installed M120) Well I figured I could make up for it with a G&P 9.6 volt battery. Well i've only put 300 rnds through the gun with the 9.6 volt battery and the eg1000 motor stops and just makes whining noises. The battery was fully charged before firing. I know this is not a gearbox issue so I was wondering if the motor is dead? Motors are cake to install I just wanna know for certain so I don't buy a part that I don't need.

if the whining noise is the sound of the motor turning but nothings moving then it's the pinion and not the motor. If the motor is dead there would be no sound whatsoever. Hence the term "dead". A dying motor would also have no whining sound as it would simply be unable to pull the spring.

The best way to find out is take a motor from one of your other guns and test it with your new gun.

I had something like that happen to me, I had a wire grounding out on me. If your wires get hot in a short time it could be a short. If not just tring to help.

I have had this happen on multiple guns, If utilizing the adjustment screw on the bottom of your pistol grip does not resolve the problem, then remove the motor and examine the pinion gear. If it is solid and not chewed up then the other item I have seen cause this kind of problem/sound is a stripped piston. Both are simple fixes.

it could be that the gear attached to the motor is not moving but the motor is. this happened to one of my old guns
