my drag cost more than that but its worth it, in airsoft it seems you allways get what you pay for in the end

Just my two cents but I think the better upgrade would be to use a PGC M249 gearbox with full Systema internals. I just saw a finished one a GunKulture and it is just too sweet. It is also able to swap out springs in minutes. Check into it.

What does a PGC M249 Gearbox do? Does the Paratrooper version of the M249 have the heat sink and hand grip of the MKI or MKII?

From the pics I've seen, the Para version comes w/MkI forgrip, no heatshield & MkII carry handle. But it's got a retractable stock & barrel is much shorter. You can get the retractable stocks for about $150 if you can find the TGS version. Otherwise it's $300 made by PGC. The PGC gearbox is an upgraded box with adjustable hop & 8mm bearings. Very heavy duty but that's about $200 just for the box itself. You then have to get the upgraded internals (gears, springs etc...). Another option would be to get one with a V3 Marui box in it. But those run over $2k. The one built by Joe at GK is also over $2k. It's a custom Para version (MkII w/short barrel & Para stock), PGC box, upgraded internals, custom wiring job (low resistance, flexible, thick gauge) and I believe a custom 12v batt. But from what I've seen, the retractable stock only has 2 positions because you have to "twist" it to collapse it.
