Motors effect on gun noise

May 4, 2006 7:08pm
This might be a noob of a question, but my gun sounds a bit whiny and I have read that its probably due to the motor. I want a second opinion. If i have a whiny motor say a turbo 2000, will replacing the motor with a systema or marui near equivalent reduce the noise?

bad shimming, gears, and motor can contribute to a whiny noise.

check if the pinion gear properly meshes with the bevel gear ( if you know how to take apart the gearbox)

well...from the name of the motor, it is a ICS gun, correct?

System torque up motor. And some gears as well.

well it all depends on if he did any mods to the gun. I have seen gear sets with wierd shaped teeth that dont mesh properly with the pinion gear. Dont know which brand but its not marui or CA. Yes you can try adjusting the motor height but only if all the gears are compatible with eachother. Its hard to explain without pics but i hope someone out there knows what i mean.

Gears are usually sold, bought and installed as a set, hence the term gear set. Now ain't that a novel idea?!! OK here's the kicker if they are bought and installed as a set wouldn't they be compatible with each other?

you understood my statement completly wrong. i meant to refer only to the bevel and pinion gear. i have this gear set from some unkown brand that is only compatible with pinion gears from its own brand. I was not trying to say mix match of gears and all because yes i know gears are sold as sets.

Everything is pretty much stock i believe. Yes, I made the mistake of getting an ICS and now im paying for it. I took the motor out ran it alone. That would have to be the worst motor I have ever had. It sounds like high pitched siren with a hint of grinding. I am new and have only read up on how to replace the gears but have no experience. I think I will start with the motor. Thanks guys

dump that turbo 2000-"pos" noisy and suck-up the battery. have 2 ICS mp5 that i replaced the motors with marui and systema. smoother, quieter, and battery would last a few extra mags before recharge or change out.

Ok so which is better, opinions I expect to differ, but a eg1000 or systema? My guess is systema
