Grenade question

On the madbull grenades or any for that matter. when you unscrew the top and bottom i think there is a little seal that holds the gas in. well when i unscrew the bottom the thing that i assume holds the gas i came out. is that bad or should i just push it in???

In close range combat, an unsuspecting melon will get the back of its melon blown off.
