TM AUG problem after upgrading
A month or two ago, my friend had his Tokyo Marui AUG (civilian) upgraded at GamePod. They really screwed his gun up. They broke the plastic plate in the back of the gun (the plastic piece that separates the gearbox from the battery compartment, which also holds the gearbox in place). The guys at GamePod also screwed up the selector switch -- semi-auto and full-auto aren't clear-cut anymore. It skips between full and semi with no predictability. The gun also just stops firing occasionally, for no real reason. My friend also complains of "weird winding noise stuff" and I can attest to the strange smell (smells like burning or warm plastic, or something) that comes from the gun when the bolt is pulled back and the hopup is exposed.

have him take it back, they warrenty all the upgrades they install so shouldnt be a problem. At least that is what they say, we shall see if its true. BTW I am having a bit of trouble believing this as the stuff you say they did makes no sense. I wonder if your friend didnt try a little of his own work. For one, the aug has no selector switch the trigger pull controls the full or semi auto firing, secondly the back plate you are talking about is a commonly removed item when doing a battery mod. Third, the smell you describe reminds me of to hot a battery for the AEG. Did your friend put a 10.4v in there without the other upgrades to make it work right? Kinda sounds like it...
What would Brock do?
The back plate was modified by my friend, but GamePod literally broke it. The highest thing my friend has used is a 9.6v -- and that was to power the newly upgraded gearbox. I know for a fact that he doesn't have a 10.4v battery.

well then if they messed it up they should fix it, wtf I am so sick of retailers not taking the most basic of responsibility for their service. Happens all the time in every retail sector, but at least most products and services have more options of where to go to receive them.

LOL, this reminds me of a study I read lately. apparently on average %50 percent of forum posts are misunderstood. I thought it was BS until you 2 just took a post were I specifically say to buy MORE from AEX as a call for a boycott. sheeesh.
What would Brock do?
then how come in another thead u say that they rip people off and that u should get a lawyer to sue them  wow i wonder why i "misunderstood" you, good god, if u dont like AEX then dont shop there, dont preach your bull sh!t on here, the guys at AEX are our freind ...kinda...so u best be carefull what u say on these forums, not that im against free speach or anything i just feel that openly bashing on a store that has to deal with more BS from noobs like u deserves more respect than that.
 um yea there professor...just keep thinking that...

No their bad service is due to the fact they are being overwhelmed by alot people demanding repairs and or upgrades and want it [b]now/[b]. With the volume of work done there will always be errors when one is attempting to get it back into the hands of anxious gamers who don't want to miss a beat.

OK I will spell this out for you, I blame the weak local market for a small staff which in turn makes it hard for them to get things done as well as they would like. Its all there in my post, hard to belive you didnt get it but the proof is in the misunderstanding. Furthermore I am obviously refering to buying from overseas not from the AEX website. And finaly, my offered solution was (is) to spend a little more and buy from GamePod or AEX to help them do better, hire more, and meet our needs. WTF cant /dont/wont you understand that? And to whoever is trying to hack me, I know its one of you fan boys as it started this evening and is a norcal sac area comcast ip. foget about it LOL!
What would Brock do?
First and foremost: My friend made no modifications on his own -- aside from the battery plate thing...yeah...that didn't turn out well, obviously.

haha sorry i couldnt help more, its hard enough without seeing it, then its even Iffier when its passed thru multiple peoples ears.
I do allot of fiberglass and filler work, I think I could fix the back plate by making one from kevlar and epoxy to fit. I cant promise anything but I would be willing to try. PM me if you need that. Before that option you might try cutting a piece of something to fit and glueing it yourself. The material should be stiff, 1-2mm abs modeling plastic sheets might do. This is a job for someone very careful and detail oriented. Take your time and get it right, don't get frustrated if you have to start over, MEASURE TWICE AND CUT ONCE etc... Totaly doable repair though.

I know all the techs at gamepod and I highly doubt any gun left there in the condition you're stating.
Look its a bird its a plane, no its just my broken aeg flying all over the place.

As said before, It might be possible to fabricate your own part.
The best thing your friend can do is call gamepod, since they worked on the gun I'll bet they'll hook him up, all it costs is a phone call.

I think they told him (this is second-hand information, so there's a chance I'm inaccurate) that he'd need a replacement part. I don't think they offered to get the replacement part for him. We tried to make a back battery plate thing...it seems to have stopped the gearbox from shifting forward and back, but the mentioned problems still arise.

get the broken original, trace it on a peice of sheet metal, use tin snips to cut it, and drill the holes out.
