Diff Between AR15 and M4

Jun 22, 2006 6:33am
I cant see the difference between a m15 and a m4 is there one?
if you try to fail but you suceed which do you do?
Jun 22, 2006 6:36am
M15= CA
Jun 22, 2006 6:37am
sorry but that was kinda noobish, but yeah everyone doesn't know something sometimes, the company that makes the m4 full auto/ semi auto rifle is colt and the m15 series or guns is made by a company called armalite who makes semi-auto only weapons that look like the full auto m4's made by colt for civilians to buy, that is the only difference really except for that the trademarks are different, hope this is a valuable piece of info.

There are many different companies that make an AR type gun. Colt supplies the military i believe (anyone who knows for sure feel free to correct me). However i'd find it funny if a knock off company became known as a family of rifles... ie aramlite type rifles. Anyone who knows for sure who made the first AR feel free to pipe in. Never was interested in who was first

If I recall I believe armilite held the orginal rights to the AR series, until eugine stoner left armilite to work for colt, who recieved the first orders for the rifle, not from the army but the USAF, thanks to General Curtis Lemay.

And they're now made by FN, at least my A2 was. personally, I'd rather have an A2, made in Belgium than a Colt made in Hartford.

Yeah Stoner made the AR15, but the US Army almost didn't adopt it because Stoner was an immigrant and politically they thought it wouldn't look good.

isn't Colt's contract with the Army still in effect till 2008? I think they still hold the major contracts, it's just that a lot of sppecial operators who are allowed to buy what they want choose FN over Colt.
Jun 23, 2006 2:11am
Don't know about that anymore- plus I wasn't Army, so I don't know what those pukes do with their weapons anyway. (lol)

I always thought that the difference between the M4 and the AR15 was the size. I think the AR15 origionally made with a fixed stock and the M4 was a smaller version with a shortened barrel and an adjustable teloscopic stock. I'm probably wrong but I was just putting my opinion out there.
