Good OD spray paint

Jun 24, 2006 10:19pm
I need spray paint that is the exact color of OD foregrip/rail covers made by CA to paint parts on my tm g36c, and will I need primer for this project and what kind, and where should I go to buy the paint?

The closest thing would be the Krylon OD Camo Spraypaint. THey sell it at ACE.

And I won't need any primer?

try to get mil-spec FS 34087 if you can. Dont know where, but its what the military uses, and I really like the tone.

TYLORD is correct....the Krylon OD Ultra Flat paint that I used on my TM M4-SIR project worked out great and the coloring was REAL OD color..not too light and not too dark :D

They didn't have that paint at the local hardware store, so I got some rustoleum in a cool green color darker then OD but still cool and I just put the second coat on, it looks pretty good, will post up later in the gun gallery section.

Great...glad you figured something out for your project.

yeah I live in oakland, not real hunter camo friedndly, lol, more like gangsters with 9's and ak's. LOL

Do not use the Rustoleum. It is very off color and actually has a blueish grey tint to it. It also leaves a very weird texture on the gun. It is very bad quality paint.

I already used it, and it looks pretty darn good and i bet you've never used it on a gun so stop saying crap.

Woah, don't get mad. Actually, I have used it, I just tried it last week. Didn't work for me, I didn't like the color(not real OD), and the texture was not as good as Krylon. I ended up stripping my entire gun and sprayed it with Krylon. Haha, don't get mad dude, I was just trying to help you out and make a suggestion. Here is another suggestion, don't paint your gun in hot weather. Wait until night time or morning.

hey , what parts did you paint?? because i wanted to paint my g36 , but couldn't decide which part to paint...

I think G36's look great when the entire gun is painted. It also depends what you are painting it for. For camo? For looks? If looks, then painting different parts and leaving some black can be cool, burt if you are going for camo, then paint the entire gun, or else it defeats the purpose.
