Suicidal Jumper in SF today....
so I'm walking from my bus stop to bart today in downtown sf, I walk by and see a lot of cops as I'm coming from Union Square. I was trying to get to Gamestop to get a PSP game, so I see a lot of cops and the block where gamestop is located seems to be roped off with caution tape. Apparently someone was threatening to jump off the 4th story ledge of the H&M building. It was pretty high I'd think you'd die if you jumped, but I don't know for sure. As I'm walking down another side street to get around this and just give up on Gamestop and go home I hear something. It's the whole crowd, he jumped, they screamed. Then I heard what sounded like a thump or a small boom hitting the ground. I then knew he had jumped. This was a pretty emotional thing for me as I didn't really expect him to jump, I thought it was just one of those cries for attention suicide attempt kind of deals. Apparently I was wrong and very surprised. As I was walking it really sunk in that this man affected so many people today with his selfish act to kill himself in front of all of these people watching. I do not know for sure if this man died yet as I've not looked into the news for today which I will do later on, but my guess is that he did die.

has anyone seen The Bridge? A crew puts cameras around the golden gate bridge for one year and captures something around 2 suicides a month. Terrible. it was on PBS.
I hope its the transient guy who kept pushing on my 4-Runner, last summer, on Bryant Street while I was running a surveillance....the guy was pretty much the craziest, weirdest, most stinky, gross person I've ever seen....

Suicides always have an huge effect on everybody around, especially those who know/knew the person.
COMBAT BEARDS FTW!!! 8)
I've not seen The Bridge, but I did an internship at the US Coast Guard Station Golden Gate for my school required internship. We got to choose and I chose that for a cool experience. The Coast Guard guys at that station are the ones to respond to most if not all suicides off of the Golden Gate Bridge. They say they get on average, 1-3 suicide calls per week. Those cameras were probably missing a lot of suicidal maniacs....

yeah i should have said that the cameras captured that many. They dont know how many jumped at night or in the fog. In the movie it shows the coast guard retrieving bodies. its awful.

I know it seems fucked up saying he is a coward, but i'm going to have to agree here. Look how many people he affected that didn't even know him. Imagine the impact of those who did. he was just thinking of himself, and took the wrong way out. whatever he was going through it would have gotten better
whatever happend to him he should have been strong about it. Just because something bad happens doesnt mean you should kill yourself. If that were the case me and everyone i know would be gone right now.
Maybe he had some psych disorder :?
When I'm done with my homework I'll research this topic further and see if I can post whether he is dead or not dead...and maybe why he did it? more info to come...hopefully. Or you can search yourself keywords like
