For those who know computers

I just bought some cooling fans for my HDs but now they don't fit in the bay perfectly meaning I can place them in the bay but the levels are off so they can't be screwed and secured. If I left it in the bay unscrewed will it potentially cause damage to my hard drives due to vibration since it is not secured to the PC case?

no, it's just ghetto.

That is ghetto also, but it's better then letting it hang there.

actually the drives are not hanging they fit into the bay its just that because of the heat sinks are a little thick it raises the drive about a millimeter too high to the point the screw holes are blocked. here is a link of the cooling devices i bought for my drives http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835888114i'm just wondering if its not tight and fastened would the vibration be great enough to cause damage to the drives.

your hard drive over heated? lol have u ummm blow out the DUST from your case fans lol, i dont use hard drive fans i think they are rip offs, i just use compressed air to blow out my fans every few weeks and my air flow is good.

Actually the inside of my cpu had a minimal amount of dust. the main problem is that the air conditioner in our house is busted so my room heats up over 100 degrees i figured cooling fans might help with these new hdd. my other option was for a liquid cooling system for my tower but i heard the maintenance on those things suck.

Not to mention expensive

i dont have ac in my house either and nothing overheats so kind of a waste of money and no your drives do not need to be secured, i take my computer in my car all the time when i go to friends houses and my 4 are not screwed in ive had them for three years like that and nothing is wrong with them and i even punch and kick my computer on occasion due to the fact i lose at halo or cs:s so next time dont waste your money on something like that, cuz unless the system and most of the somponnents in your system are overclocked and you dont have suitible cooling then maybe but i wouldnt even see the need for a hdd fan thats utterly ridiculous
