New Gearbox or FTK??

Jul 13, 2006 5:47am
what do you think?? I found a TM gearbox on WGC, but UNco has a guarder FTK for a G36.......and the tune up is cheaper......ideas??

your gearbox is durable for a long ass time if its TM.

ya i should have mentioned that its a CA........i dont want it to break and be screwd......id rather just upgrade it.
Jul 13, 2006 5:54am
stick with the TM gearbox.
Jul 13, 2006 5:55am
ok, thanks for your input guys.....anybody else?
Jul 13, 2006 5:56am
Yeah Oakland aex guy and everyone I know and reviews tell me that CA version 3 gearboxes suck more then version 2, so +1 to chase....
Jul 13, 2006 5:58am
well....when did the v3 gearbox come out??
Jul 13, 2006 6:00am
you have a version 3 CA gearbox in your gun as of now if its a g36, and I don't know when they came out, i just know from people that it sucks major a$$ a lot of the time next to version 2 and TM and or systema gearboxes.

Ver3 is just the design of the gearbox. Not the 3rd revision or anything. But ya, the ver3 CA gearboxes have been plagued with problems for a while. Bushings arent too fantastic, and CA refuses to use good materials in the switch assembly.

ok, CA's gearboxes are copies of TM's, and the version 3 came out after the 2. The TM version 3 is stronger than the 2, though not as reinforced as either of the CAs.

this would have been the one to get...
Jul 13, 2006 3:47pm
you might want to get a new motor, too, like a TM EG1000 or an Eagle Force EF1100. I think the G36 uses short motors?
Jul 13, 2006 3:51pm
ya snoopy, thats what i was looking at...........if i just got that, and a m110 and a tightbore.....would that put me at 400fps consistently???
Jul 14, 2006 1:21am
Here is just my 2 cents. Spend a little more and get the systema gear box. You wouldn't have to upgrade anything. From what I can tell their bad as$ at a reasonable price.

is this true guys???
Jul 14, 2006 5:22am
If it was me, Id buy the TM box and an eagle force motor, and have AEX install new bushings and a spring.
Jul 14, 2006 5:23am
thanks.....that was wha i was thinkin
Jul 14, 2006 5:29am
After a new motor, upgrades, and installation, it'll probably run you close to the same amount. Systema gearboxes supposedly have great factory shim jobs, but I can't varify that.
Jul 14, 2006 5:30am
but what will it take to get consistently 400fps?
Jul 14, 2006 5:49am
cylinder set and an M120. You might want new bushings too, that is if you are talking about getting this instead of a TM box.
Jul 14, 2006 4:54pm
ok, so your saying that if i have a m120, new cylinder set, and bushings, with my CA gearbox, it will be fine??
Jul 14, 2006 5:18pm
I am not sure about Ver 3 CA boxes, but when people replace the cylinder parts with metal replacements on a Ver 2 CA, their gearbox with break very soon afterward becuase the cylinder head holding extrusions have bad positional tolerence.

Id just get the new TM shell, like I said earlier, and here are my reasons:
Jul 14, 2006 6:09pm
CA shells are fine, spence broke his because he was running a heavy spring with an aluminum piston head, and didnt press the anti-reversal latch before he opened it up. Also you left out Whining motor, and a funky hop up

To get 400FPS (if that is your only goal)
