Thanks for the input. Ive heard that the silencers dont do anything. Is there more than one kind? I see that you put "foam filled". dose that make a difference?

if the silencer has foam inside it instead of just plastic it does indeed dampen the sound. :D

if you want a silent AEG buy an AUG, put a silent cylinder set in it. dynamat the gearbox, and put a nice silencer on it.

silincers do WORK they cut down on the muzzel crack, the gear box noise it self is harder to cut down on, for the most part your enemy WONT hear the gear box noise unless they have snuck up on you and your about to get knife killed, but like Augie said buy an AUG or a P90 if u want quiet. To quite down a CA m15 is get a new grip, slient piston head. Remember most of the gear box noise is fromt he motor and the piston, aside from a few other little things. Dynomating will help BUT DONT DO IT YOURSELF. I have seen gear boxs dynomated by people who dont know what they are doing and well BUMMER. you never dynomat the gear box, only the inside of the body and put in areas where no moving parts could get grabbed and sent into the gear box. I hope my rambeling has helped.

ARs are just plain loud. There is not enough room for silencing materials.

1. telling someone to buy a different AEG to quiet down the one they want to quiet isn't helping nor is it the right answer.

i'm saying that if you want a silent AEG a CA M15 isnt exactly the best place to start. while still being a nice gun, it will never be as quiet as other AEGs on the market.

What you stated is completely understandable and in every way correct. But doesn't answer the question at hand. How to quiet an M4/M16 series AEG. Granted you can do only so much, but for most some is better then none.

-Silencers do make a difference, ones from retailers, that are metal, and foamed, do make a big difference, especially in upgraded AEGs. The best silencer I have ever used was made by Laylax, its a bit pricy, but well worth the money.

DUDE DYNOMAT THE INSIDE OF YOUR GUN AND GET A FOAM SILENCER. DYNOMATING IS PUTING FOAM ALL AROUND YOUR GEAR BOX IT WORKS PERFECTLY

as long as u dont put it near any moving parts of the gear box, if u do then ummm Andrew u still have those pics of that gear box that was dynotated?

DYNOMATING IS NOT PUTING FOAM AROUND YOR GEARBOX.

Unplug your batteries, keep it on safe or remove the motor.

Be aware that Dynamat has a thin aluminum layer on the none sticky side. You dont want this touching the contacts on the motor! I used some electrical tape to insulate the motor contacts after dynamating the inside of my AUG. The dynamat did less then I had hoped in quieting my already fairly quiet AUG. I am looking into helical gears and a silent piston...
What would Brock do?
