I am a bit curious about the Comtac electronic hearing protection made by Peltor. Does it reduce loud noises to 20 dB level or does it just reduce noises by 20 dB? I am looking to purchase one for the pistol range and use it later on for shooting rifles.

For the most part, the hearing protection reduces it down to 20dB; however, at an indoor range, it can still be pretty loud.

from what ive heard and read....the sordins are much better.....
