barrel scratch?

Jul 20, 2006 12:26am
I was looking down the barrel when replacing the hop up bucking and it looks like there is a scratch that goes down a segment of the barrel. Would it be worth it to buy a new barrel, probably a tightbore? I have a mp5a4

How long is 'a segment' and how deep is the scratch? I doubt a small scratch will screw your accuracy up much.

it appears to be 2 to 2-1/2 inches in length near middle of the barrel. It slightly curves around with the barrel's concavity. Depth--I am unsure, its pretty easy to see though.

did you check your gun's performance? That scratch may or may not make much of a difference.

Am going to go another way then my colleges and tell you that a long scrach is benifical. Think about it, its like rifeing in your airsoft gun. Rifeing is what helped us beat the Nazis in the War of 1812.

[quote]i say i dont think the barrel scratch wont do bad to the performance of the gun at all, well, if it gets any deeper, the air from the gearbox may end up going through the scrath, causing a slower fps.
