Grinding to make it fit?

Jul 21, 2006 3:03am
i just finished the install of my metal lower on my TM SIG P226 and am now moving to the slide. i noticed the original plastic slide has rectangular groves cut into the sides, and there are notches to fit them on the metal housing of the nozzle. the metal slide doesn't have these grooves, so the nozzle housing will not fit properly. My question is, do i have to grind off the notches on the nozzle housing in order to use the metal slide?

try to fit it without grinding...you never know if it will fit or not until you try, Joe.

You have to file the crap outta it to make it fit. I took half a pound of metal off mine before it fit and worked correctly. How well you do the grinding and how well it fits has a large impact on how well the gun will empty its mags after your done. I took both sides of the block down to almost flat before they fit correctly, I also did some filing and dremal work on the actual slide and lower body to make it all move smoother. You may also want to replace the springs now too.
