What will penetrate?
Check this site out! Myths BUSTED of the gun variation.
Every day above ground is a good day.
glad to see someone else knows about this. with some claims made on your Tactics thread about penetration of kevlar, I thought I'd post this.
Every day above ground is a good day.
I am not to suprised by the results, but thats still very scary, beware of rifles, wearing kevlar does not equal invunerablity.Very interesting information worth a look for all

reguarding the tactics thread. those who are thinkin those MP7's wont penitrate kevlar. Testing shows it can penitrate 20 layers of kevlar and a 1.8mm titanium strike plate. thats some serious penitration for such a small round.
ya know- what that site taught me was this...I'm so glad I was a Marine and they didn't have money for kevlar for us. Wearing the vest would have caused much more damage than a clean shot.
Every day above ground is a good day.
Sure the MP7 will penetrate kevlar. But what does that little bullet do once it goes through? Will it fragment? At what depth, and what kind of crush cavity does it produce if any?
so wait if the bullets dont penetrate, but they leave that big of a dent, couldnt that still kill you if you got hit in the right place, not to mention it would hurt unbeleivebly bad and break bones and leave a helluva bruise or am i wrong, i also thought that kevlar had a metal platwe in it also, but i could be wrong about that too. i dont keep up much on this
looks like someone here needs to build a truth box of their own, get there hands on some kevlar. and last but definatly not least get their hands on some firepower to test on it (good luck on that last one because we all know how much california hates things that make people happy) :?
that kind of "dent" would traslate to a HUGE laceration and internal damage. better to have a clean entrance and exit wound. the doc and fix that a lot quicker.
Every day above ground is a good day.
Penetration is good, if someone isn't where they should be they should be violated to the full extent of my 12-gauge, and thats with indiscriminate justice too :)
God save us everyone will be burning inside the fires of a thousand suns.

ladies and gents, THAT is why you make sure you get the first shot :)

ooh there's a show called "Modern Marvels" on the hist. channel they did a segment on bullet-proof stuff, complete with 5 differently angled high-speed cameras, you should see the ripples that go through the plate armor, looks like ripples from a rock in a pond.... pretty....
Cole
all I have to say is that I hope they will have ceramic/D. Uranium/kevlar Cobham armor by the time Im old enough to be in the service. Shouldnt be that heavy, lighter than a steel plate of the same thickness, and would provide more protection from AP bullets.
unless your planning on impotency, I doubt uranium is a good choice....
Cole
I know. Its depleted uranium, which is still somewhat radioactive. But a thin lead sheet in between layers of the composite should stop what little radiation is left.
ahh I didn't catch the "D"... why don't we just stick everyone in Bradley's?
Cole
Yes, I should make the D more noticable.
let's just hope that we don't need to send people into battle when you're old enough to serve...you notice that I'm not naive enough to believe that war will be over...
Every day above ground is a good day.
BoT rox! I've been readin that for years! That latest one on the robber wearing 3 LIIIA vests and the sniper deciding if he could penetrate was a good one.
