You can choose between tape or putty to cover the trades,I have yet to order from them but it is stated that they allow you to choose this during ordering.

I order fro them all the time. In fact, I order from them wholesale at times for the squad. the tape is simple to peel off, the putty take a little more work.

What do you have to do to take the putty off?
just slowly peel it back--DO NOT use any heat! Any residue putty will fall off in time. If you're ordering something with a metal body, the putty will just peel off without a hitch, plastic takes a bit longer. here's a pic of my .45 (plastic) after the putty was removed by slowly picking it off with my fingernails.
