Since we're talking reinforced gearboxes...

Reinforced gearboxes are not all that they're cracked up to be. I was always kind of suspicious about "reinforced" gearboxes, because it didn't seem that the area above the cylinder was any tougher than a standard gearbox. Now here's a note from people who work on airsoft guns all day long...

most different gearboxes use different materials inside of them. If you compare weights of the stock tm box compared to a systema reinforced box, you can see quite the difference in weight. weight in metal usually means its more dense, therefore stronger.

Are you talking about Ray's SG-551? If so, that's a whole different issue. That's a version 3 gearbox vs. the version 2 I'm talking about. Notice that the version 3 is held together by a metal clip on top instead of the screws. That allows for much more reinforcement where it typically breaks.

The CA gearboxes are reinforced, in the rear of the box where the gears are. But not at the front of the cylinder where it's really needed.

hmmmmmmmm those ICS/Progearbox/CA gearbox have extra metal where they're not really needed...at the back of the gearbox...where the gears are...it seems like the materials are pretty much the same...I guess it just depends on who manufactures the gearbox...
