any idea of the best local jeep online forum?

generally it would mean your low on oil really low, but it also means loss of compression, have it hooked up to the computer and they will tell you exactly whats wrong probably really big problem though those are good engines lot of power I have one and havent had any problems with it

is there a chance that it could be the oil pump? cuz when we first flushed out all the oil, the last owner had over filled it

yeah it could be the oil pump but I wouldnt think that the check engine would only come on when you come to a stop, and does it do it when your breaking or only at complete stops? but yes it could be the oil pump but it would do it all the time

Could be oil pump but doubt it. First off do you have any leaks? If yes fix them first they are usually cheaper to fix. If not do a compression test. Low oil pressure will not cause loss of compression but it is a sign of burned rigns or other cylinder problems that will cause it. If compression is low you probably have burned rings or a number of other cylinder related items could be bad. Thats where i would start. If you have any questions feel free to shoot them my way. There is no reason to go and do compression tests on the cylinders for your problem. you either have

just becsuae he did an oil change dosent mean he dosent have leaks. Oil leaks from place other than the oil filter and oil plug.
