M733 outter barrel question

Aug 4, 2006 9:00pm
Ok. here's the deal. i'm trying to put a stock TM R.I.S. unit onto a stock TM M733 length outer barrel. the problem, the outter barrel seems about 1/8th of an inch too long even when it is adjusted to the shortest length. i know that M733 handgrips are thinner than standard M4 handgrips but i thought they were the same length. So my solution so far is to put a washer between the front sight and the handguard retainer, but he overall effect seems shaky. is there a propper way to do this without having ghetto rig something up?

Get a different barrel. For whatever reason, TM decided to make the m733 barrel/handguards just that much longer. No way around it without a different barrel or machining your current barrel.

thats kind of what i figured. well i dont have very much money but i do have unlimited access to a machine shop so i guess i'll be making some "custom" parts.

Sweet. I'd imagine you could just turn down the barrel a little so it fits in the "sleeve" deeper. Let me know if it works.
