Gov. Schwarzenegger signs "BB devices" bill

This basically makes firing BB guns, which I assume includes airsoft guns, on a similar footing as a real steel firearm.

hmm , well , unless authroized by law , would this include a police officer? because at forest hill , we were told by a police officer that it was ok to airsoft there... but if this makes our games illegal , then im moving to nevada!

hmmm , well I am going to be extremely pissed off if we cant play airsoft anymore . I mean , what if that does become illegal?

I found this rationale listed on one of the state senate websites

from what i've seen the police don't enforce all laws unless it becomes a problem for them or people complain. Not to say they don't care they just have other things to do then stop every person who breaks every menial law like jaywalking, and they give warnings alot to. HOWEVER this does not mean that if you go break a law you'll get a warning... assume that you'll be cited and/or arrested if applicable. So back on airsoft... as long as we all exercise disgression and not flash airsoft guns in public and keep the games out of the public view we should be fine.

As a criminal justice professor once started in a lecture "maxium enforcement of all laws all the time is impossible" I highly doubt that we should be completely concerned by this. This bill is not going to be strictly enforced.

Ah reading this gave me a laugh, reminded me of those 2 LA County Sheriffs who were killed during a shootout with a man armed BB gun. The officers shot themselves in all the confussion. hahaha

i'm not worried i do not discharge my airsoft rifles in a GROSSLY NEGLIGENT MANNER

Airsoft is a game played with nonlethal devices. It's a shame that people upgrade their sniper rifles to 950fps with crazy gas modifications -- maybe if there were no cases like that we wouldn't be in the same category as other air BB guns.
Gun control is not Crime control.

as teamsatan and andrew said, I dont discharge my guns in a grossly negligent manner, and not with the intention to cause SERIOUS injury or death.

As I implied above, I don't think this is a big deal and doesn't seem to be aimed at airsofters. Didn't mean to scare anyone, just want to keep everyone informed...

one more post going toward enforcement...if DA's across the country were mandated to enforce the Gun Control Act of 1968, any Felon caught in possession of a firearm would receive a mandatory 10-year sentence.
