OK so i want to make a CO2 mortor that launches a sh1t load of .12 on targets, So i abouslty NOTHING about CO2 tanks, vavles and how to make one. So basiclly i was thinking of having a 5inch diameter PVC pipe about 3 1/2 feet long mounted to a bipod. on the butt end of that i want a a form of co2 tank like a 42oz and a quick release valve, so that when u hit the vavle it shoots like 400 bbs at once, so my question is:

i can help...all you need is what you posted up, and get one of those big, paintball tanks if anything...what you should do is make a valve system(go to home depot and tell them that you want to use a paintball tank to propell CO2 out of a start/stop style valve...)

dude go with a PVC tube the diameter of a M203 launcher and shove a nerf football in the top... further down you put it the farther it goes. put a 203 in the other end facing up and get something to push in the valve to release the gas DON'T USE BBS IN THE SHELL. The football goes hella far. The recoil on it is rediculous tho :D

heh, well the last time I built a cheap launcher, the CLAW happened. Built the moving parts out of wood scraps that were rotting, with ABS surfaces. Heh, that thing did not work.

Ya, make sure you regulate if you are using a compressed source for power.

If you want to go hard core you can get a 9v or 12v solenoid from a marine supply place. This is basically an electrical valve. A $1 switch from radio shack and the schedule 40 PCV and you have yourself an unregulated switched mortar. just my .02.
