ok, My bro just bought a new battery from onlypbatterypacks.com cuz his other one blew up. the batt he had before was 9.6V 1700mah Nicad. his new one is a 9.6V 1700mah NiMH. <<will this work? and a couple of questions on charging it....the batt came with a paper that has "charging directions" on it. they say it is recomended that we charge it with a charger that has an adjustable Delta Peak detection circuit. I'll tell u right now, we DON'T have one of those. we have a mini fast charger that is a piece of sh%t. I was gunna get a new charger but I don't know which one is good, any suggestions?
O and also, will one of those cheap $15 dollar marui dischargers work on this type of batt? cuz all the dischargers at onlybatteypacks look like this....

As a matter of fact, it would be best to store them with a charge, and repeak them when you play. If you don't have a charger with adjustable peak, you can charge at a lower amp rate.

From what I've read online NiMH (the newer ones anyway) are supposed to have a better lifespan than NiCD, but don't take my word on that cause I'm prolly a worse newb than you. Like Ray said you don't have to discharge the NiMH. As for chargers, a lot of people I've talked to like the TLP intellichargers. They have built in dischargers and can peak charge batteries (ie autocutoff). But they're like 50 bucks...unless you buy a used one off of ebay for less. Oh and don't get those lightbulb dischargers...they look kinda ghetto and you can prolly build one yourself for like 3 bucks.

the light bulb dischargers work just the same as the marui. I don't know if I would get NiMH batteries, they seem to have less power when it comes down to turning that spring over. And the way I look at it is get a good charger for $50 and you won't have to ever get another one. unless you break it... :roll:

Just wanted to mention that nimh batts need to be "cycled" if you let them sit for more than a month. But that shouldn't be a prob with most peeps since they play at least 2x a month.
