If you're only 15-16 you're looking at JROTC, not ROTC. ROTC is for college, and it prepares you for a Commission in the armed forces. ROTC money is like a Grant- you don't have to pay it back and can go to any College/University that offers an ROTC program. However, if you fail to meet your obligations while an ROTC student, you'll be required to serve an Enlistment period that pays your tuition money back.
Every day above ground is a good day.
I did Army JROTC for 4 years when I was in High School. Well worth it. We went to Camp every year for about a week, sometimes 2. We also did Drill Competitions, lots of marching on top of that. Attended Parades, and many other community service events. And many other things on top of that.
I am a 33! Be proud of what you are...

I did Civil Air Patrol in high school. It was pretty cool, one of the more enriching things I did then. It's a lot like AF JROTC, with a number of differences.
