M1911-A1 Discussion

Sep 11, 2006 2:59am
I've been considering the purchase of a WWII-era M1911A1. I'm thinking about getting Tokyo Marui's version, but I haven't found any in-depth reviews to quell my concerns about accuracy, performance, durability, etc.
Gun control is not Crime control.

In close range combat, an unsuspecting melon will get the back of its melon blown off.

I have the WA Transitional Model. (Retail at UN Co.: $170) This model was developed by Colt between the wars, and was common place in the early part of WW2. The main difference between this model and the first generation 1911, was the addition of a shorter and checkered trigger. As you can see from the pics, it shares the lanyard and straight cuts on the slide with the 1911 and 1911A1.

I forgot to mention I'm a cheap propane user (i.e.: I bought an adapter and I use the rotten-garbage-smelling propane).

WA has an inflated rep because anyone who says they arent what they are said to be is shut out.

i haven't shot a tm m1911 but know a bit about WA's. WA's are guns that you want if you're a collector and want extremely good fit and finish. tm's are guns that you want if you're a skirmisher. WA's 1911s just don't perform very well in the field. the scw1's couldn't take green and their range blew. the scw2's could take green but their range was still mediocre. the scw3's i hear have better range but...honestly why would you want to skirmish with a 250 dollar gun.

AEGs, just like real guns, are tools.

I'd pay the extra cost for the WA 1911 if the gun was actually worth it.

Sure, if you spend extra money you can get them to take green. I just meant it would be nice for them to take it stock out of the box. If TM and KSC can do it why should I need to buy more parts to make my $250 pistol shoot as well as one half it's original cost?

I've owned 3 WA 1911's (all magna type). I currently own the TM 1911. It beats the WA in performance, which is what I care about. WA feels more realistic out of the box, but then again, when metal frame and slide kits come out, anything will come realisitc.
