k the title is just to get your attention but read this anyways. I just saw that guy and his M14 upgrades post. Well is it ok to just go to AEX, buy a TM m14, get the 400 FPS upgrade package for fifty bucks and thats it? Not need anything else? Thats what peeps have told me b4/

That's what I understand too. But this begs my standard response when buying a new gun...why upgrade/change anything that's not broken? Your most reliable gun will be the one that's stock.

Yeah, I sold my stock CA m15a4 to Mike and he used at the game and said it did awesome. I see you dont need a super gun, skills are more important, but why not have both? most of the upgrades are for bragging/asthetics, a spring and bushings are usually plenty as long as you keep it between 350-400 the wear shouldn't be significant at all. like Ice man said.

yes the version 7 gearbox is probably one of Marui's finest ever. With that said a simple bushings and m100 spring will net you 390-400 fps. However, with any aeg the better your hop is adjusted the better range you'll get. Don't matter how hard it's shooting if your hop isn't adjusted correctly you might as well be spitting them out of a straw.

will AEX "adjust your hop to a good point" while they upgrade it if you ask them?

Airsofter58, adjusting your hop is a snap. You can do it at the field. Adjusting it indors is cool too, if you have space. did you get a primary rifle yet? If you did, let us know and we cna walk you though where your hop is.

I think you should perhaps learn how to adjust your hop up before you pay for complicated upgrades.

my suggestion , keep it stock , and add a tightbore , that is pretty much all you will need for a lot of range/accuracy , and umm , hop is the simplest thing , take everyone else's advice on that.

lets say I wanted a tightbore, could I just pick out the rifle and right their just say "can you install a tightbore" lol. How would I do that? Are there specific kinds? And no i dont have a primary ywt, or secondart, or anything

Prometheus or Systema TB barrels will be your best bet. They will know what you are talking about if you say you want one installed.

so if I just say can you install a tightbore barrel in this also? They will install the best one? Or I have to say a Prometheus tighbore or Sytema

Chances are they will ask you. There is about a $10 price gap between Prometheus and Systema (Prometheus being more expensive and better). The difference is hardly noticable, however.

so Im gonna buy a Tokyo Marui, ask them to install a Prometheus tightbore, and then thats it? I got a good gun there? I wanted 400 FPS, but I REALLY wanted like 370-390 so I could still run at CQB games sometimes. So I get the gun, ask to install a Prom. Tightbore and thats it? Done in a few days? Nothing else I need to get it shooting really well? By the way does the tightbore change the FPS?

I think you will be happy with a stock tm. A TB barrel will be a plus. Dont upgrade the internals until they break (assuming they will eventually), or until you notice them performing worse. "If it aint broke dont fix it".

so my gun will be shooting only like 300 FPS? Is that still good, cus isnt a TM m14 280, so 15 is like 300 FPS basically. 300-310... will it still be ok? oh and how much does it cost to install a TB?

300 fps is more than fine. Once you shoot and get used to the gun you will be glad you did not spend the extra $ on unnessesary upgrades.

Hellion- I dont have a job, I can afford one primary and one primary only. Sorry to disappoint....but my priimary is my primary everywhere. Im only 14, money doesnt roll in, and if you cant tell by me willing to spend every last dime, its cus I worked my ass off dude, I made 1000 bucks in a month doing little small time jobs for neighbors, thats the richest ive ever been lol, so im trying to get a real job but at 14 its difficult, as for the gun question. Yes an m14 with 370 is my CQB weapon I guess.

yup! thats what i did and if you want you can get a scope mount and a scope 2 :D its a good gun evan tho it feels more toyish than most airsoft.

it feels toyish? I heard it weighed 9 poiunds.

compared to the real one or the g&g one it feels diffrent. They perform SO well so screw the feel.

so even after I get the tightbore, I still shouldnt get the 50 dollar 400 FPS upgrade even tho I have the money???

what if I just ask for a tightbore and metal bushings? I dont want the spring anymore. So is that cool too? Like how much FPS is that, I want to be under 350 for CQB.
