Going good for now, kinda stuck in the reception company till we get picked up for the next training cycle but ITB (Infantry Training Battalion) is backed up. The word is if we don't get picked up this coming thursday, we'll either get stuck in Guard Company or get sent home on Recruiter's assistance.

hahaha, oh, yes, the indoc memories!! recon ridge? that's a new one, we probably called it something else, or i've just totally phased that out of my brain housing group!!! is force still at Las Flores? I've heard that the Recon Bn's have be stood back up again, something about a recon company per regiment didn't quite work or something? If they did where's 1st Recon Bn at? Used to be up at Camp Tulega. That's where Heartbreak Ridge was filmed, there at Pendleton. Tulega was where the Quonset hut barracks scenes were filmed, I actually lived there in 82. I new some of the guys that played in the movie as extras. The guys that were the "experimental" whatever Marines, they were actually real Marines from Recon Bn. The fight scene in the mud pit, the big guy that was fighting with Swede was actually on of our "Docs".

Its the main ridge above the Alpha Shelf. Force Recon will be phased out in the next two weeks. All Force Recon is either going into MARSOC or reintegrating with the Recon BNs. 1st Recon is still over there by the AAV Driving Course the last time I looked around base, near the Main Entrance area of CAMPEN. No idea where Camp Tulega is. Might know the area but not by name.

Well, that does make sense, why have a Force Recon Co., when you have a Marine SOC unit to do the same things? Too bad that it's getting disbanded though. Oh well. Tulega is up by the Onofre gate area, near San Clemente Housing. It's probably shut down.
