Cheaper Than Dirt Chest Rig Any Good?

Hey all,

I believe that rig is a MIL-SPEC brand set up. When we forme dour air-soft team, we were actually considering buying several of those for the team members, sinc ethey were so affordable, but then changed our minds.

That pretty much goes with the responses I've gotten on other forums. No one's had any major complaints. I think I'll give it a shot.

I agree..and if you think about it...air-soft is about replicating the real thing, anyway, so it's not absolutley necessary to have every piece of gear be authentic and the real deal....however, my son and I usually buy the real stuff, since we want it to last a long time and not wear out quickly.

I'm pretty sure that I will eventually buy the real rigs for exactly the same reason (plus some of the "cool" factor of having authentic gear), however I'm still deciding on what works best for me. Investing in something so pricey just to resell it for 60% of the cost just isn't appealing to me at the time.

my perspective might not agree with most people but here goes.

You're probably right, Bordicon. After all, it is just plastic pellets and a day or two at a time of relatively light use on gear (now this is light in comparison to actual military).

It looks like an ok rig, but I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for"

No doubt, I agree with (Bordicon) and many others. Not every single piece of gear has to be the real thing..however, it should last a while and not fall apart or be a piece of gear that is well known, but affordable.

True, true. The effect that authentic gear adds to events really does make a difference. In my fairly limited experience, I've only been to one "major" airsoft events besides the monthly scenarios at Ford Ord, and that is the CQB Challenge event put on by Roundhouse Productions as well.

i think you should go for that chest rig, i got a vest from cheaper than dirt a year ago, and its still doing great. but like everyone els is saying the real deal is better, me and my brother dropped by guns and gear one day just to look around for hunting stuff, well he did i just wanted to go look at the weapons  , i was looking around until i spotted some black hawk gear (very nice), it was just an ordinary looking pistol holster, but when you actually feal the material, and the thumb break snapping, you can feel quality, if you take your ordinary replica holster it does not feel as sturdy, you have the chance of your weapon falling out or your magazines dropping out, happened to many so many times, when your haulin ass you want quality...
you can pay for school but you cant buy class

Hate to keep this post going on and on..but (Headshot) couldn't have said it better. At first it's funny when you lose your pistol or mags at a meet when using a cheap vest or gear...but then after the second time you lose your pistol and/or mags or other things, you start to get pissed and realize that spending less $ was not a good idea (even though you were just trying to save $). Soemtimes it's best to just buy the better quality items (the ones you need the most) and then buy the lower end items that are not a scritical or that don't matter as much for air-soft meets..etc.

Yeah! Don't skimp on your holster or else you'll be sorry- I had my S&W co2 40 in a Cheaper than dirt tacvest with the built in holster, and that sucker got dropped in the dirt at Nam. Messed the gun up... lesson learned...
In Pace Requiescat.

So true. Same happened to me and my son...LOL...using a few UTG vests when we sfirst started out with air-soft.

I owned that rig. Construction is good. The mag pouches run a bit thin so it's a bit hard to remove the mags very quickly. Only M16 mags in there. Honestly, i'd just save up for a real rig or just buy a TT MAV + pouches for a little more.
