Phoenix High Cycle Gear Set
So I stripped some gears last game and was talking to a guy over at Nam and he said he ordered some new gears that were self shimming? So I looked these up and found them. I ordered a set for 96 bucks. Which is sounds high (airsoft GI had them for 120, which is very high considering I ordered the gears , spring, high speed motor, noise reduction butt plate, and piston for 206 shipped!) but if they work then they are well worth it. Will post up some pics and what not when they get hear. I got them from redwolf as well as a new "Deep Fire Titanium Piston (Titanium Teeth)" which is a poly body with TI teeth!!!!!!!!!!!

So you get your metal gears, metal pinion on the motor, and titatnium teeth on the piston. Wheres your failsafe? What happens when something breaks?

i am thinking the teeth on the piston. they are cip on desighn, ti is also brittle.

I remeber the guy telling us about the self shimming gears.. any idea how they work?
interested in seeing how the pheonix gears work out.

hey, i dont know anything about gearboxes, so this is prolly n00bish....but if i had the systema steel gears, would they still get messed up??

im thinking that the teetch on the gears would fail over the TI. TI is fairly soft and malialbe but still...im not ready to risk it. but let us know on the gears i may buy some.
Phoenix gears are nicely crafted, but overpriced for what their worth. I've found it easier to do it the old fashion way. They are hard to break but can break nonetheless. Each gear on one side has a spring with a brass shim, and you're simply shimming one side only.

I bought Deepfire's full Titainium teeth piston and I have never had a prob with it. It has no wear on it and I personally think its a great piston but I might have just got the one that wasnt bad I guess.
