OMFG I smoke and this is going to get me to stop. I am sure it will pass as smokers are in the minority. Its a direct attack against a personal choice due to the tobaco company's shadey tactics over the years. Smokers get to pay the price at the wallet and the lungs for corrupt businessmen :(

Regardless of whether or not you are a smoker. Smoker's are a minority in this state and to tax is to place an unfair burden on a minority group. Hasn't anyone stopped to think whether or not this is fair or even constitutional? It's also the first step to excess sales taxation. What happens when all the people decide to quit the day the law passes? Sure there'll be alot of healthy people, but then the state will look into other ways to gain revenue from specific "market groups". And you better believe liquor, candy and everything you buy in the grocery store will be increased too.

I don't think the point of this prop is to make money. Unless you count all the money that the state of Califorina will save from not having to pay for your cemotheopy when you get lung cancer. The point of it, is to get people to stop smoking. Its bad for you, its bad for the people around you, and its just plain stupid.

once again smoking is healthier than fascism...trying to economically strongarm people into quitting is fucked up. You don't think the state is going to pay just as much for your liver transplant after you drink yourself silly? Why not make the same prop for drinking if your so into forcing people into compliance.
