What kind of Radio's do you guys use for games? The cheap Radio-Shack 1 mile on a good day and everything is going your way, or the 5 Mile+ requiring an FCC GMRS License?

I use the 14-mile Midland radios, with a headset mic. They work amazingly well and you can turn off the damn 'roger beep'.
I have always acted in self defense, occasionally pre-emptive self defense.

14-mile midland? That requires a FCC GMRS License. I really don't want to have to go through the trouble of getting the FCC GMRS License, but I'm really waiting for more opinions on this.

Well I don't have the GMRS license and honestly don't see my self going through all that hassle when I'm only using the radios about 8 hours a month.

lol (spock), i know, but if my plans are to go into DEA, it would be wise for myself to get a GMRS Licesne if i get a radio that requires one.

I'm sure LEO's and all other government agencies are automatically licensed to use GMRS. Meaning you'll receive training and or waivers due to the nature of your occupation.

Government Agencies do do that. But because I'm not apart of it yet, its kinda difficult to say "but i'm gonna join"....

i just bought a midland radio and boom mike from Fry's and it said nothing about a license do you have to get one just to use it

anything over 5 miles will usually require a FCC GMRS License, which all documents for are free...anyone trying to sell you the paperwork is scamming you. You can get everything for free, i think the license costs a few bucks maybe. do you need it? only for security, if the FCC catches you with using it they might have a few things to say and there is the posibility of fines or jail time (?)....

no, not their responsibility...and they dont have to tell you if you need the license or not...its the government, so people and companies leave it to the government to tell yuo until the government says companies got to say something

not very high, ive used one (till i fell on it on rock) for like 2 years with no problems no license for me.

I just drove around town holding down the squawk in the back of a black Jeep with my gmrs radio and no black vans came screeching around the blocks triangulating me. Oh wait that was that damn movie with Christian Slater. So sorry.

chances of getting caught are low. Its like driving down I80 at 100mph every day to vacaville. You could do it for a whole year and not get caught. They only got 2 chp officers covering that section at any time. So chances of you getting caught is rare
