It all depends on what you want to do,both the navy amd air force are known more for technical specialties, the marnies and army are not so much.Depends on what you want to do,I considered enlistment, but decided to get my degree and go through the college AFROTC program at the sametime.

First off, if it is your desire to serve your country that is driving you to the military, then there are a lot of ways to do that. Other than joining the military. Fireman, Police, Doctor, EMT, Schoolteacher--all these careers help the home front a lot more that being overseas in some god-awful jungle (or desert) getting shot at, bombed, or spit on.
Every day above ground is a good day.

Personally i am choosing the marines. I can understand all the points about the air force and the navy but the marines are the only service group who's atitude i have been very impressed with. I am not saying there arent weird ducks out there who give their service a bad reputation but i got lucky and got a awesome recruiter who showed me that marines is the way to go for me. Also most of the marines i have met in other ways are, for the most part, succesful, confident and they live. I know the education of the navy adn air force can be better but for me college would be damn boring this way i get to do something interesting and challenging, i get to stand with the best and fight for the country i love

Well, if you wnat to go to college before your service, look into ROTC. I say that because you get a degree, and in the end, you come out as an O-1 or 2nd Lt. I thought about it for a long time, and thought that this was the bets way to go for my life. what ever you want to do, think about it. this is only what i did/ am doing.

i wonder what one person put down coast gaurd...

I can respect the coast guard. It's a job and someone's got to do it. Though I always found it amusing that back when ( I don't know how it is now) the coast guard was under the Department of Transportation until such a time as war and THEN comes under the Department of Defense.
