Increasing accuracy

Jun 7, 2004 5:49pm
At the game on Sunday I noticed a huge difference between my mp5 and SR-16. My Mp5 even on full auto basically shot where I put my scope. But my SR-16 instead of shooting in some form of a line put out what I believe looks more line a cone instead of a line. I know these aren’t supposed to be the most accurate BB guns of all time but when I was getting shot at it seemed that most of the other guns had a much tighter line of fire than I did. So when thinking on what is the difference between my MP5 and SR-16 the biggest thing to me is the silencer on the SR-16. My inner barrel doesn’t go all the way to the end of the silencer as opposed to the MP5 whose inner barrel almost goes to the end of the flash suppressor. So if I get a longer barrel, just about 230mm more, would this fix the problem?

quick fix.... stop using .12g bb's

the bbs might be hitting the silencer on the way out. shoot the gun without the silencer and see if it has the same problem, if not, then its the silencer. A longer barrel should improve the problem but removing the silencer would be best. If you still have the same problem without the silencer? then i dont know what to tell ya..

put some wraps of tape around your inter barrel, they will sometimes wobble around in the outer barrel and cause it to shoot like shit.

Go to home depot, get a piece of copper tube (larger than the inner barrel) and put it in your suppressor. That will take care of bbs hitting the inside of it, then use a bit of tape, or some other medium at the end of your barrel to prevent it from moving.

Something that nobody ever thinks about or considers, but you may want ot chrono your gun. I've found that guns that have a great variation in fps between shots tends to shoot lousy groups. If you can tune the gearbox for consistency in accuracy, that will solve half your problems. I'd rather shoot lower velocities with a very minor spread in velocity than to shoot at super high velocities and have large variations in fps.

it shouldnt be that much of a difference if it's from 20 feet though...

I've run into a similar problem once with my TM m4, I found the hopup was just dirty.

when i got my ak, stock the thing shot like shit for some reason. Im not stupid either, something was up with it, none of the other guns i had before shot like that. Like john was talking about I put tape around the inner barrel to make sure it wasnt wobbling and it still shot terrible, I mean the gun could not shoot groups good enough to hit a 1foot wide tree at about 35feet. I took the inner barrel out, and took the hop off, everything was inplace. I put it back together and it fixed it for some how... dunno what was the problem but it was not normal.

Okay started checking out some of the suggestions that I've been given. Took off the silencer and the thing still shot like shit. Checked out my inner barrel and it looks like there is a flaw at the tip. So to test my theory I put a BB on the tip and nothing happened the bastard just sat there on the top. This is a systema inner barrel so I'm assuming that this means that the barrel will be a tighter fit than the stock barrel that came with the gun. All I know about airsoft guns is that they shoot BBs at people but I'm pretty sure that this barrel isn't doing what is it supposed to do.

Well I tried to do it again just to make sure I had something, well I don't. The BB just went right through the barrel without any help from me. By any chance could the hop-up not be seated properly on top of the barrel?

fergot, my brothers m733 had sorta the same problem, couldnt hit shit, so i had craig take apart the hop up and check everything out, he put it back to gether and it worked fine. I would try that, seeing how Pbbum did the same thing to fix his problem. if thats not it, i dont know what to tell ya bro..good luck

There is a good chance that the hop up bucking is not seated properly, so taking it apart and puting everything back together (taking care to seat everything right) is probably your best bet.

Personally I find that putting a drop or two of silicone lube in the feed tube after a game works wonders
