"The replicas really don't give our police officers time to think about, 'Is this, or is this not, an Airsoft weapon?'" said Tom Walsh, a spokesman for police in St. Paul, Minn., where a politician wants to tighten an ordinance to cover Airsoft guns.
The article also stated that a weither or not the orange tip of the gun is painted, officers only have a faction of a second to decide between lethal, or non-lethal force.

i'm talking about with upgrades. people spend over a thousand on airsoft. i've seen paintball guns for like 100 dollars. and yes paintballs are more expensive but thats just one part of it. And yes i have paintballed before. i used to before airsoft.

you don't get what i am saying. Do go out and have a gun on a sacair field that can "compete" with other guns will be around $300, a stock TM. In Paintballing, a $300 tipmann will have a very low chance of taking somebody with an angel on. So for you to actually get into the sport of paintballing you have to spend atleast $400 for the gun/hopper, and once your into the sport, the more often you play the more money you spend, most people spend around $75 or more(good paint runs for $50 for 2k shots) on a single day of paintballing.

That's a good article. It helps us know what direction airsoft is headed to and because of some stupid individuals, including parents who bought these kids airsoft guns, it's not looking good. Thanks for the article even though it basically ended airsoft on a bad note.

Yeah with all that talk about banning. The place they mentioned in Oregon, is that the place where airsofters are fighting it?

I read this article today. I felt like writing a letter to the editor to (hopefully) ease people away from the idea that legally restricting airsoft guns is the best option. I'm worried that people will read the article and consider supporting legal bullshit to get airsoft guns restricted in Modesto. :?
Gun control is not Crime control.

As fellow airsofters we should all focus on safety at all times during a game, transporting the stuff, and the suroundings when we use these stuff. Serious airsofters rather keep this hobby in a low key avoid legality issues such as politicians putting bans on our favorite hobby. Airsoft was briefly banned for a few years before requiring painted red tips, removed trademarks, and must be 18 or over to purchase in Kalifornia. What I hate the most is that it only takes one idiot ruin it all for all of us.
