Does anybody know how hard it is to start a field up.

You'll have to look at other airsoft fields and ask them. I think that's your best bet. They've started a business and a field, they would be the best to ask. For example, Combat Enterprises and Fort Ord are 2 examples. =)

you need insurance, paintball insurance which would require you to make everyone wear full face masks... I'm sure its more to let people just wear eye protection.
It's too bad everyone likes to sue. I would have been much more happy in the middle ages, were everyone just used the barter system. Does anyone know if there is a diclaimer form or something that I could use for when people come out and play?

just invite people you know, and dont charge them. you gotta get a lot of sh1t for it, including the insurance policies which are a sh1t load.

you can pay for school but you cant buy class
Yeah. That would be cool, exept I would want to get "something" in return for putting my ass on the line and all the sweat I put into the field. Maybe make them give me gift cards to AEX. Hehehehe. I don't know. I would pay to play there if I didn't own the place. I have put alot of effort into making it fun out there.

i asked my ex wife who's an insurance under wriater what the info is
Good fields have good staff... I definitely prefer the way roundhouse productions (fort ord) runs things compared to combat enterprises...
It's not the insurance that will get to you. It will be taxes, which is the city, county and state taxes. All of which is taxed based on both revenues generated and parcel size. There's also the fact that you may not be able to get a permit to operate a business if that area is not "zoned" by the city/county.

You're looking to start a business. As in every business, you need to do a bit of planning, market research, etc.
Every day above ground is a good day.
Good luck to you if you're able to get it up and running. As for the waiver, I've got link here that you can look at from Action pursuit games in Rancho Murieta. You could probably use it and add or subtract policies with it.

i would see how much the ins. cost and see how many people would be down to maybe pay a fee for a year, and charge people without a daily pass fee. I know a few people in Vacaville that need a good reliable place to play and would be willing to pay. but first step is to see how much the ins. is and go from there.
I think I am already soured on that idea after seeing what kind of customers I would have. It's funny how all these guys are in little clicks like prom queens. They all think that they are too cool for school. Well I have news for you Walter Cronkite...... Their not!
