Crazyblink's PTW

Dec 29, 2006 8:53am
Just finished building this a few hours ago. Uploaded are some hastily taken pics. I'll take better pics when theres actually light outside (I hate artificial light). For now it's missing rail panels and optic. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. A big thanks to asinapple8805 and Mojo for helping me put it together.

I am going to pick up the m4 challange kit. how does it sound, and do you have a line on any tightbores for the m4 ? What cylinder are you useing?

Tightbores are done by a small group. They're asking for somewhere along the lines of a $100 for a 6.05 or 6.04 barrel and made to order.

yea some guys in Europe are making them. I heard of the PTW fourm that there will be some aftermarket ones come from one of the large companies.

I just ordered a M4 CQB Challenge Kit and was informed that systema changed the diameter of the inner barrel from 6.10 to 6.04-6.05. The change was made back somewhere around November to no fanfare. So anything shipped out after the first of the year has the new tighter barrel. FYI

Or I can m4 challenge from den-trinity for $780...(nearly $200 cheaper than ANY ONE here in the states)I don't need the Max kit, as it is to hot for any fields around here and I don't want a CQB, I built CQBs before they were flavor of the month.

Yea, the changeover has been made on the barrels but the announcement only happened a few days ago. Hopefully you got a gun that was manufactured after November 06 so you got the barrel. As far challenge kits, they aren't too hard to put together. A guy back home took about 1 hour to put the whole thing together and he never touched a PTW before. A few guys back in Hawaii manufactured 6.03 barrels early in 2006 and had it for sale and I know Doff made a few barrels on ptwforum from scratch however, seems like Systema's barrel killed the market at an affordable price of $80-$90.

Yeah i've been kind of busy lately(wife just gave birth to our first child last week) but I was able to assemble the lower last night between bottles and dirty diapers :? seems like the toughest thing is running the wires through the body in such a way that it doesnt get in the way of the upper rear body pin hole. there's a funky turn in there that the 3 wires have to take.

Yea, I was having trouble. Looks like the buffer tube is too long and when it screws in, it blocks the body from opening. There's only 1 shim in and even with that out it doesn't help at all; the buffer tube is too long.
