Opening a field
Okay this is a ways out, but I am serious, passionate, and willing to put the work and stress/ MONEY, MONEY, and more gal-dern MONEY into this business. I am almost eighteen, and like to think of myself as a realistic guy. Before I forego joining the Marines right out of highschool for the dream of opening this field/ sports ranch, I would like some input from the airsoft community to gather some information. I need to get a good idea of what the community thinks before I set this ball in motion to make sure an airsoft field is even a feasible business endeavor. I love this sport and would love to share it with people. I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate the input, and please, SERIOUS ANSWERS, and thank you in advance for the participation :D
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!!
1.)I see myself playing the sport for many years to come.
in four years, the way things are going...sale of airsoft guns would have been banned in California...
I her ya on the whole liability issue, I am looking into it at the moment as we speak actually. I hope the california ban never becomes reality. :? But what I'm a little more concerned with is build permit if i cant find a couple existing ones to remodel or "aesthetically damage" I would love to see even larger events on the site if possible.

1: Depends on cash-flow, school, and such. But yea, I plan on staying.
I forgot about the weather thank you... I guess that means drainage, huh? don't want super muddy lakes for trenches, and soggy second floors could be a problem.

watery trenches would be cool! Trudgen through the water, i know some people aren't afraid to get themselves muddy and wet... you just gotta clean clean clean you gun when you get home.
Yea but alot of things could happen i know alot of people that are getting out of airsoft but there are twice as many people starting to airsoft.i think it would be a great business if you got the legal part done!
Glad to hear from another mud enthusiast :D I'm not too worried about the court. Most airsofters seem to be pretty cool. I've got hookups as far as lawyers go, so I think I'd be okay even if domething DID happen.

I'm all for mud and rain. Just have a good place to dry off and get warm. I still say rain and mud make airsoft SOO much more realistic.
+1 mud and rain are fun but if I don't have a place to stay warm after each game I wouldn't do to good!
At first I'll probably have a portable tow-in building for my office and rentals and whatnot, but I do intend to have some sort of indoor staging area.

Yea where you do all your business like a cash register, gear forsale, and food! That will be awesome!
Prolly have to do the food under-the-table at first, cuz there is a whole lot more liability issues with commercially distributing food, but I intend to stock the place. :D

[quote="Amateur Ninja"]obviously you dont know him.
Hmmm.... :? I think to prevent any such occurrences, I won't let anyone with paintballer tendencies on the field :D
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!!
Also, don't have paintballer/Airsoft field. Reason is that the paint will get everywhere. And I mean, EVERYWHERE. People will be tracking the paint inside and such.
I will probably be getting a loan, so I will have smaller facilities at first, but the lounge is a good idea, thank you, i do like the camera idea too, my fiance's dad runs a security business and could probably hook me up. this is good stuff thx. :D

What kind of schooling would you have to go through to open a business like this?
"When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but creatures of emotion."

So, are there any other locations that you would think about starting a field at?

if it is security you need, I'm a security guard...you pay me enough i'll stay as a security guard and watch the field at night...my only request though is that i get to play with my airsoft stuff, dress in it..and shoot the damn homeless people who wonder in...yeah...shoot the homeless...god how much i would love to do that now!!!!
I am a 33! Be proud of what you are...
I won't settle for a property without diversity , and have been looking at bringing a couple of portable buildings, to cut down on construction costs. I'm getting experience digging trenches where my team plays in rocklin. LOL. Don't tell my team-I have a couple of Red Dawn style suprises for them. ANYWAY I was thinking of buying a couple of vans, painting em green with a "Huey" style front end, and using them for insertions and other objective based events if sacair ever came to call. Or people could just pay extra for a vehicle insertion via the road. I'm looking into this field a lot, and I really think this could be reality. And depending on the profit margin, I would definitely hire a night guard/hobo-chaser/messer-with-my-crapper-at-nighter guy. :D :D

It's highly unlikely airsoft will be banned on private property especially since the guns have a legitimate purpose.
you'd really just need to taeka small business class and maybe some insurace ones for the insurance licensing exam wouldn't hurt
I would definitely pay for a field. And as long as airsoft isnt banned in CA i do plan on playing for quite a while. I suggest an urban field, with dirt, and mostly cement. I think that that would be easier to manage also. . . Buildings, trenches and turrets would be nice. Drains on the ground for rain, and possibly trenches all along the side that you could sweep the bb's into to clean up. The lobby should have Some couches or something, vending machines, lockers and bathrooms.
