quick tech question

On the TM 177 reciever, it [manual] shows the rear pin being pushed out, and the user pulling on the carry handle to make the top half swivel out. I am being met with some sort of resistance which prevents the swivel action. Does anyone know why a/o what to do?

A video was talking about two "tabs" that may break if the two reciever halves aren't pulled apart properly. Any ideas on what the "proper" way is?
