This is the beginning of the end of airsoft as we know it...that was really stupid. And we are hearing about more and more incidents everyday... I bet we'll see a bill that will ban the sale of airsoft to minors, and will see clear airsoft weapons...

there is no doubt in my mind airsoft guns will become illegal in a few years if this keeps up.

We should get in contact with the writer of the artical (number and e-mail is that the bottom of the artical itself) and infrom them that we do have regrulations with our stuff, and the why we don't have the orange tips on the weapons. Perhaps also, the person who did this should no longer be allowed to play with SacAir. If this is happening, then we need to protect ourselfs, and deal with the offenders. I am close to calling the Author just to give him a breif rundown of procedures that we normaly follow?
Jan 27, 2007 1:51am
I contacted the Author, and learned that he did not know about about California Law about Replica Weapons and BB Guns.

we have protection. California law about BB guns. I told the author about that and the waiver we sign at AEX when buying BB guns, how it has the laws about them in the back. Give the guy a call, I'm sure the more calls he gets, the more he'll be informed. Perhaps invite him (the Author of the artical) to a game?

Sale of airsoft is so getting banned in California this year with bad press like this popping up every other week.
Jan 27, 2007 3:13am
thats exactly what i am talking about.
Jan 27, 2007 3:29am
I was talking to Howtizer from NAM Magainze ( I'm not tellin his im addy), He says that is protected from becoming banned from importation, and being somewhat regulated like Real Firearms. However local and state govs can set up statues and laws about how airsoft is sold, how its presented, and such.

They Can't do that. It voliates International Law. It also has a economic impact. The only way they can ban the sales, is though Federal law! And the odds of that happening are slim!

It probably will be a stop in sales of airsoft guns in the way that we know it, like Neo says.

What specific international law would it violate? And how would the US care about it when there are countries out there that don't even respect US patents, trademark or copyrights. If federal law precedes state law then why does the ban on assault weapons exists for California though it has federally expired?

there is a restriction on age ( 18 to buy a airsoft gun).
Jan 27, 2007 3:57am
your logic is incomprehensible and so is your source of information. Certain weapons are not on the ban list not because it doesn't conflict with Federal Law, but because the only law that all states cannot override are the Admendments. Without the 2nd admendment Cali would have banned all firearms. Instead they arbitrarily decided what kinds of weapons are deemed too evil and banned those. While some are justifiable most are not.

True. The assualt weapons ban in CA is so arbitrary... a Ruger Mini-14 is as much an assualt rifle as many of the banned weapons, but since it looks like a hunting rifle, is not banned. Never mind the garand style action, the ability to use large capacity AR mags, and the ease of putting on a folding stock, amongst other features (ahem, conversion to full auto capability)...

Guys we need to chill here. To us it is a big deal because it is our world. But to everybody else out there this is no biggie. They average guy out there is more concerned with the price of gas than banning airsoft guns. It is like anything else we need to show that we are responsible peeps and not half cocked loud mouths. I am not pointing fingers at anyone all I am saying is that we lead by example. You cannot damn a group to a few bad eggs. You will judge them as a whole. Alot of peeps do not like weapons for good reason and the reasons are what we are seeing with these few irresponsible people. The majority of us respect and use common sense. If we continue to do this and not in house fight we will be showing a everyone that airsofters are not gun crazy freaks who are war mongars and want to kill everything in sight with suppressing fire. We are just a group of peeps that are into a hobby. So please refrain from picking on each other and also watch your fellow airsofter if they are being stupid tell them to pull thier head out and if that doesn't work get some peeps to help you because we do not want to lose this hobby.

so just while we are here, I have been having a discussion about the whole orange tip thing. When do you need it? I live right near chico and Im sure the po-pos are going to be more watchful now becuase of this kids brilliance.
Jan 27, 2007 5:11am
If your playing on private land, then You don't technicly need the orange tip. However during transportation, you should have it on. Also have a gun bag for the gun is good as well. Normaly a officer will follow common law, meaning that if your on private land ( with permission) and playing, then it would be ok for you not to have the tip. However any other time, you Do need one.
Jan 27, 2007 5:15am
and usually...just wrapping some orange electrical/duck tape around the flashider + part o da barrel will work if you dont have a removable orange tip. at least it does for me.
Jan 27, 2007 5:18am
okay thanks you may now return to your regularly scheduled "this kid is retarded" thread.
Jan 27, 2007 5:18am
yea. Just remeber, treat your gun like a real steel one. And now you know...
