I'm in ROTC up at the university of Nevada in Reno... and at our last field training excersize I ate crap trying to get out of the blackhawk when we were being inserted for a mission... and well.. i was promptly put back on and medivac'd:) it was actually pretty cool... except the pain that is.

Lol yea but thats awesome!Do you have to go throught boot camp to do that?I'm only 17 and was looking to go into the reserves but still not sure about it.
Jan 27, 2007 9:58pm
No.. you dont have to go through boot to become a cadet; however, it is one of the options... its kinda complicated.. but if your doing ROTC and in the national guard you do go to boot camp, but if your just doing ROTC w/ the school and not the guard you do not. It's definatly been a great experience for me though. The army pays for everything.. room/board/books/tuition/even a monthly stipend.. its how i afford airsoft

Haha so would I get paid if I went into the ROTC program?
Jan 27, 2007 10:05pm
well.. it depends.. not everybody gets the same scholarships..... it depends on academics, athletic ability, personality, ect.

I'm in Army ROTC... and I recieved a full fledged 4 yr scholarship with all the goodies.. .but only one cadet a year gets that.. mainly 2 and 3 yr scholarships are given out for books/tuition only. Still though... awesome job after college guarenteed.. looks great for future applications... great training and leadership oppurtunity. and it helps me justify more and more airsoft purchases

I definatly feel ya on needing to focus on classes. ROTC or.. "military science" is only 2/3 credit class depending on what year you are... but i spend a bare minimum of 10 hours a week doing stuff for them... but I'm on battalion staff as the S1 and am part of a ranger challenge team and blah blah blah... but its definatly a great experience. I highly reccomment college ROTC to anybody interested.
